A large US based medical billing company was considering outsourcing a few of their medical billing functions like Patient Demographics, Charge Entry, and Patient Payment Posting, to improve productivity.

The Challenge

The client had already experienced a negative attempt with outsourcing. The main concern was centered on quality. The client's existing billing team had an error rate of 4%. The THP team had to work within an error rate of 2%, despite having minimal training. THP also had to make sure that the transition from onshore to offshore was smooth and painless, with the least amount of change, while continually providing a higher rate of productivity.

The Solution

To ensure a smooth transition of operations from the client to THP, we replicated the entire existing client process without any alterations. To ensure that quality was not compromised, a quality assurance team audited all the processed files and charge sheets prior to releasing the work back to the client. We sent daily status reports highlighting the number of files processed and any exceptions to the business rules during input.

The Results

With an error rate of less than 2% monthly, the client decided to outsource the rest of their medical billing processes to THP. We process over a million files monthly and have developed a long-term relationship with a well established medical billing organization.
